Requesting cover now happens in one simple flow. You describe the role, Zen shows you exactly who it will ask and in what order, and you can make changes before any requests go out.

Currently available to Denver schools for daily cover roles.

Request cover in 5 steps

  1. Go to the Request cover tab.

  2. Describe the role. Type what you need in your own words, or tap the quick options. For example: “Para for 2nd grade tomorrow, 8am–3pm, supporting a student who needs personal care.”

  3. Answer any follow-up questions. If something’s missing, we’ll ask one question at a time. Role, grade, subject, date and time are always needed.

  4. Review your plan. See who we’ll ask and in what order, starting with your favorites and educators who’ve worked at your school. Make any changes (see below).

  5. Click Find My Sub to send your requests.

Understand your plan

Each educator in your plan shows:

  • Why they’re recommended, in one short sentence.

  • What matched, as tags based on what you told us.

  • A link to their profile, so you can check before you send.

Finding the best matches can take a moment. You’ll see progress on screen, and you can keep editing your plan while it runs.

Adjust your plan

  • Star an educator to ask them first.

  • Remove (X) anyone you’d rather we skip.

  • Add (+) an educator by name.

You can also describe your plan in words. For example: “Ask Maria first. If she hasn’t accepted, ask my favorites.”

If your list looks short for how soon the role starts, we’ll let you know. For example, inviting only 3 educators an hour to the role’s start time isn’t recommended.

Tips for describing the role

  • Include what matters in the classroom: grade, setting, and needs like personal care, small-group support or a language requirement.

  • Keep it about the role, not the person. Requests based on personal characteristics (such as race, religion, age or gender) can’t be used for matching. If a request includes them, we’ll ask you to rephrase. For example, instead of asking for a female educator, describe the needs in that specific classroom that may indicate what type of educator would be the best fit.

FAQs

Where did “Find me someone” and “Let me choose” go?

They’re now one flow. You get the power of Zen’s matching plus full control over who’s asked.

Can I still choose specific educators only?

Yes. Star or add the educators you want, and remove anyone else from your plan.

Who will Zen ask?

Your favorites and educators who’ve worked at your school come first, unless you tell us otherwise. You’ll see everyone in your plan before any requests are sent.

What if no one accepts?

We suggest keeping your role open to all Zen suitable educators to ensure that you get the best available educator as soon as possible.

Who can I contact for help?

Your Account Manager is always happy to help you get set up or walk you through it live.
